315 75 R16 Tires

Will 315 75 R16 tires fit on a 2000 F-250 XCab Long Bed 4x4 (no lift or suspension mods) without rubbing the wheel wells when turning? If not is there anything I can do to the truck to make them fit without having to put a lift on it? Thanks

Pretty sure they won't fit...
The largest I'd put on is 285/75R16.

i had a 2003 f-250 4x4 crew cab and put 315-70-17s on aftermarhet wheels and they rubbed on the plastic liner in the fender. a couple zip ties to pull the plastic back and no more rubbing.

The largest tire that can be fit on a stock truck is a 33/12.5 or a 305/70/16. We attempted to put a set of 315s on 10" wheels on an 01 F250 with X code springs (as high as you can get factory) and they would hit the front bumper hard on turns. To fit those it actually needed a 4" lift and comes close to rubbing now. If you stay with an 8" wheel you might get away with X code springs and a leveling kit.

i had 17x9s with 315s and they only rubbed on the plastic fender liner, and zip ties took care of the problem. it all depends upon back spacing. stock wheels shouldn't be a problem.

Stock backspacing on the wheels.

You're right in that the stock wheels might not make it rub, though if it does it will be on the springs. The problem here is that stock wheels are too narrow for anything wider than a 305. It puts too much stress on the bead area and will make the tires wear funny. Minimum recommended wheel width for a 315 is typically an 8" wheel.

so if i dont want to change my stock wheels (16x7) and dont want the tires to rub, my best bet would be 305 70 16's? right now i currently have the 285's on it

i have seen plenty of 250\350s or excursions with 315s on the stock wheels. on stock wheels the tire will wear quicker in the middle. donahoe racing has a leveling kit that i eventually put on that eliminated any rubbing. the kit was fairly inexpensive.

I wouldn't recommend a 305 series tire on stock wheels. Anything wider than a 285 is beyond the mfg recommended wheel size. It will make the tires wear faster/strangely. Plus if you run into a problem the tire mfg can void the treadlife warranty due to misapplication. Some stores won't install tires that wide on stock wheels. Can you do it, sure. Should you, I wouldn't on my truck.
