How long will you keep your truck? I will keep it for 10 yrs. If you keep it for three or four years it may not pay for the extra cost. How many miles do you put on your truck per/year. I put 30,000 a year this is why I picked a Diesel in less than 4 years I will have over 100,000 miles. Gas VS Diesel Fuel: The gas prices are always cheaper than diesel fuel but the mileage is much better with Diesel than gas. The weight you pull :The Diesel will pull more and you can run the air cond. when you pull. The Gas motor sound is a better than Diesel! I purchased a 6.0 and it has been a very good decision. I have a muffler delete pipe on my Diesel and the turbo sounds nice.

Especially if you're one of those malicted folks that bolts tuners and exhausts on them and such. 'Cause know this: You may get hassled a bit and bullchitted a lot with modifications on a gas engine truck. But Ford will shut you down quick-fast-and-in-a-hurry with modifications on a diesel for warranty concerns.
Buy the diesel 'cause you need the power and torque. Don't buy it 'cause it sounds cool, it gets better fuel mileage (which it may or may not), don't buy it 'cause you want to get sideways in 4 wheel hi on 38" tires or any other stupid reasons like that. And if you do buy it for any reasons other than to tow and to work, don't bitch when it's down in the shop for repairs.

As stated before, the $5000 price difference between diesel and gas engines buys a lot of gas. You can also get a custom Troyer tune for the V10 that will wake it up considerably. I always wanted an Excursion with a diesel, but after watching my neighbor wake up the neighborhood every morning, I kinda changed my opinion. Sunoco Ultra 93 is $2.29/gal and diesel is $2.49/gal here, so there goes the savings from better milage and for around another $400-$500 or so, you can get an Xcal II with Troyer tunes that will give a stock PSD a run for it's money.

I've had my V10 for over 4 years now and I'd never even consider a diesel. For one thing I can't stand the fact that the diesel adds 500lbs of deadweight over the front axle of an already heavy truck. Just not willing to blow an extra $5000 on an engine that I don't really need that burns fuel that costs 40c per gallon more and costs more to maintain.
I've towed almost 10000lbs with my 2v V10/3.73s and don't recall holding up traffic. I can't imagine a new 3v V10 with 4.10s or 4.30s is going to have a problem with power!

No lack of power in the 3v V10s. The 6.0L PSD is a piece of crap IMO. They are certainly not reliable and don't get phenominal fuel milage. Alot of 6.0s spend alot of time in the shop (or in the parking lot for a month or more waiting to get in the shop). Some are pretty trouble free, but I wouldn't want my family driving around in one in the winter. They can die at ANY time.
I fix 6.0s for a living and we are making appointments for after Christmas now. That's what, a month and a half waiting time to get your dead diesel looked at. As far as diesels lasting forever, blah blah blah... We replace diesel engines 10 to 1 versus gas trucks.

We all know that the Diesel 6.0 has had problems but I pull a trailer all over the East Coast and the 6.0 gets a longer driving range and has all the power I can ask for. We have two 6.0 F550 at work and the trucks sold me. All of the gassers will not hold up to our abuse in the winter! Look at what the Townships purchase to do winter maintenance. I like the V-10 that is my second choice. I due miss the rumble that my 5.4 had that was a sweet motor it's to bad that it burnt up on my drive way due to a FORD RECALL! With an F-350 I felt that the 5.4 was too small. The V-10 is a trouble free motor and with good maintenance it will last. One more thing I think the Diesel will not burn like my Gasser too much fire for me!

I put on a Leveling Kit and 35" tires plus Shocks and what a ride! It is to good to be true. When I tell people they think it's a truck and rides like one but it rides very good. I use the cruise controll to keep my speed down. 55 mph feels like 35 mph. I don't feel that it's too big untill I park at the mall. Ford did a good job making this truck.

I used the Ready Lift Leveling Kit. It's Steel not rubber. Very easy to install! Improves the ride. You will need longer shocks in the front so I replaced all four. Tires are 35x12.50x18 Cooper SST. It lifted the front end just right. The truck is taller now. Next is a 8" lift kit and 37" tires. I'm 51 years old and still lifting my truck!
