08 Super Duty gas mileage

So far folks with the PSD are seeing 8-10 while towing and 12-16 normal driving. None of these engines are broken in yet.
(ford powerstroke forums, the diesel stop forums)
I really want an '08 PSD SCREW 6.5 ft bed, FX4. but don't want to pay $6800 for a diesel with just 14 mpg. if Ford makes their new 6.7l (rumored) in house, AND they get the EPA to back off their 'mandatory' deisel particulate filters and fina snother way I may have one in a couple of years when we return to the states.
Otherwise, a 5.4 will do nicely in an F-150!

FWIW, the May issue Diesel Power mentions getting 12 city and 18 highway from the test vehicle they got to play around with. It's a F250 crew cab, 6.4 PSD, 4x4 with 20" wheels. They got to play with it and put on like 2K miles.
Looks like a nice truck, but that colored grille vs a chrome one has got to go....

Diesels will get better after break-in, AND have been known to see huge gains (much better than gassers) with intake, exhaust, and tuner upgrades. I know a guy who is no BSer that took his supercrew, longbed 4x4 7.3 from the stock EPA ratings to as high as 26 mpg during totally normal freeway driving at 80 mph with the 3 mods I listed above.

Have a 08 250, 6.4, longbed, supercrew,2wd, no cover yet, I drive speed limit with slow start offs and do some city and hwy both and get 18.4 before regen and goes to 12-13 after regen and THEN BACK UP TO 18-18.5 OR SO. IM THINKING 19-20 on just hwy and when towing im hoping for 13-14(have not towed yet). HAVE TO KEEP YOUR FOOT OUT OF IT!!!! OR BE PREPARED TO SPEND ALOT OF TIME IN REGEN AND MONEY FOR FUEL!!! also I use the cetane booster. when I want to drive it hard i just know my milage is gonna suffer huge losses.

What gears does it have?
We took my Dads 450 to Moab. Averaged 8 mpg. This is with the 4:88 gears. With the trailer and Jeeps, weighed in at 22,000lb. '
This was also going down the road at 75mph in tow haul. It did an amazing job in staying at the set speed. The old 6.0 would fluctuate and down shift a lot to maintain or get close to maintaining speed. The new motor simply gets things moving... but uses the fuel in doing so.
Funny thing, my 330hp M-Benz M2 gets the same fuel mileage.
