New to me F250

Guys,
I just bought a 2000 F250 Super Cab Lariat 4x4 w/ 59,000 miles on it. I have ID'd a few minor cosmetic issues that I would like to get fixed:
1. Overhead instrument cluster does not work (compass/etc).
2. Driver side rear folding passenger seat missing rod that goes through the seat mounting bracket that the seat folds/pivots on while folded.
3. One of the rear seat belt clips/inserts is not bolted to the floor under the seats.
4. Rear sliding glass window is missing the locking hardware/hasp.

Would you recommend getting these things taken care of at a Ford dealer or trying for a local repair shop? My gut instinct tells me to go w/ the dealer, but I would like your thoughts. Thanks much.

Are you even halfway mechanically inclined? If so then I would say you can easily fix those yourself as they are simple fixes.

The overhead console not working is something I've seen a few threads on over on www.thedieselstop.com I'll take a look and see if I can dig them up, if not you can do a search over there too.

The seat will require a new pivot bracket as Ford does not service that separately.

The seatbelt you just need the bolt and the Torxs bit to fit it (T50 I think).

The window locking hardware I'm not sure on. You might have to get new glass to fix that, but don't quote me there.

I would suggest checking with a local parts house on these things first as it will be cheaper than Ford, and if they don't carry it then go to Ford. Ford overcharges the parts and the labor, so it wouldn't suprise me to see you walk out with a $500+ bill to fix all that. You can do it yourself with simple hand tools for probably $200 or less.

After a quick search I turned up the website that has the fix. If you don't feel confident with doing soldering then you should be able to print out the instructions with the pictures and take it to an electronics shop. Most places will solder that for you. Either way its a HECK of alot cheaper than Ford, they'll only sell you a new overhead console for the tune of several hundred dollars.
