Talking Towing with f250 6.0 diesel compaired with 1500 dodge hemi

I recently towed my 30 ft camper weight about 7500 pounds to Florida from Ohio down Rt #77 compared to the same trip I took 2 years ago with my 2004 1500 dodge Ram quad cab hemi, there is no comparison, With the Dodge I had to drop down to 45 mph on the steep hills or run at 5500 rpms just to maintain 55, With my 2006 F250 6.0 diesel I maintained 65+ on the same hills with the RPM's never going obove 3500 and on the flat ground I ran 80 mph with rpm 2200. I also pulled this camper with my 2001 4.6 f150 screw well that didn't work at all , that is why I went to the Dodge 1500. I know alot of people dog out the 6.0 Diesel but from what I have seen so far this truck flat out moves. I drive it daily to work always hitting 80 + and sometimes 100 mph ( which by the way the electronic speed limit does not let it go past 100 I tried) I hope this truck continues to put that smile on my face, so far it's great.:

I was getting around 8-9 mpg on the dodge hemi and around 12-13 mpg on the 6.0 diesel, I didn't pull long enough with the 4.6 f150 to check mpg, I was worried about the damage to the truck. I know you can't compair a 1500 to a 250 but when I got the dodge ram it was rated to tow 9200 pounds and it did on flat ground but I know that alot of towing would have damage something.

any time you compare a gaser to a diesel, its a apples vers orange deal, My dad owns a 05 6.0 4 door dually F-350 and it is a hauler, I'm now a happy convert to Dodge with my 5.7 gaser and I will never even look at a Ford 5.43v or the V/10, my 5.7 hemi fits the bill.

The hemi in a 1500 with auto is a gas hog, but the 5.4 3v is not that much better with Mpg, I owned a 04 f-150 that loved to gulp gas, my 06 2500 5.7 in a 2500 with a 6sp is now pulling 22 mpg high way.

I test drove a F-350 with the new 6.4 twin turbo and Wow, I'm looking forward to driving the new cumins 6.7, booth the Ford and Dodge D. engines are more truck than what I need, and A hell ofa lot cheaper !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah...I can understand the 5.4 versus the Hemi stuation, but the V10 3V has plenty of power (at least 15hp and 70 lbs/torque more than the cool Hemi) - but hey...it aint available in the 1500 class....so I would go with the Dodge over the F150 if it was power alone...but that darn new Toyota would be a good choice in that class too!~
