Wooooooohoooooooooooo!!!!

So, I sent my oil to Blackstone Labs for testing about a week ago, and today they emailed me the report. I'm stoked with the results:

ZACH: Everything looks good in the first sample from your PSD. All wear read below universal
averages and in the proper balance. That's a good sign that normally wearing parts are at work inside
your 7.3L and that no obvious mechanical problems are developing. Universal averages are based on
an oil run of ~5,200 miles. You were just shy of that mark and you can see that your engine wears
better than most. The oil was in good shape physically, containing no moisture, fuel, or coolant. The
air and oil filters are working well too. Nice engine!

It's from Blackstone Labs. Go there, mention The Diesel Garage, and your tests are $20 each. The collection kits are free. And yes, they do gassers, along with transmission, diff, transfer case, etc.

They test the oil? How does that work? Before or after an oil change?

They test your used oil. They send EXCELLENT directions with the testing kit, but you take the sample as your oil drains out, somewhere around the middle of the pour, NOT from the drain pan.

You know that this is just something that engines do to make you feel good right before they decide to go boom

I have had my oil samples checked three times now too, they are getting better each time with break-in

Right before a bearing slips out of it's race, locking the rod to the crank, snapping the piston, and sending it through the side of the block.

Cool deal, I may have to do that sometime. Actually may have them do my tranny. See if I got all the 2qts of TypeF I had to put in it 3 weeks after I got it, while on a trip and that was all the late night, roadside, middle of now where, Iowa gas station had...... I hope it's flushed out. It's been 50K miles, changed it 3 times since then, if it's not gone, then damage is already done I guess.
