Check out thedieselstop.com..... Most the guys who report there are getting anywhere from 10-14 maybe 15 at a high? If your going to upgrade to the new SD, dont do it for the MPG, do it for the truck. I recently got a new left over 6.0 and I get 15MPG towing (5k lbs) 15MPG City, 18-19 HW. I upgraded from a 02 F-150. I only have 6k on my truck too. The new 08s are nice, especially the interior, I drove one, and loved it, however the only fault is the MPG. New duramax's/cummings are getting way better MPG than the new 08's 6.4's.

Or... look for a left over new 6.0, I got mine for 14,000 off MSRP...

Gook luck!

My Lie-o-meter is consistently at 20L/100km. When I calculate a tank of gas I get about 12-14 mpg.

Mostly city driving without a load. I only have 2000km on it so far.

Are you sure about that, I have heard different from people with the new Cummins, even the Dodge dealer I talked to admitted that their 08's get much worse mileage than the older 5.9L's. It's not just Ford, it the emissions crap.

Don't forget that the larger displacement and higher output are big factors too on the poor fuel mileage, not just the emmissions.

is that US gallons or imperial gallons for your calculated mileage? if US, then that sounds about average from what I have heard.

what kind of increase in mpg could you see from adding a chip. im not sure how many are out there for the 08's yet but im sure one would have a nice increase in h.p. as well.

08 Super Duty currently get terrible fuel mileage...suprisingly nothing else is going wrong with the 6.4 which is a good thing. There are supposed to come out with a PCM update in december to improve the fuel mileage..from what I heard it is getting 8mpg...towing nothing.

8MPG? LOL...I would say you heard wrong. Mine is getting an average of 14.2 around town unloaded and around 18 on the road unloaded. I pulled my dad's Ford 2000 tractor yesterday and it averaged 15.4 running 65MPH with it. Mines a 4x4 Lariat Crew Cab with 20s and 3.73 gears.

The real loss in MPG comes in when it goes into re-gen mode...a tune that will cut that out will greatly improve the MPG. Drive an 07 and an 08 back to back and you will be happy to sacrifice a couple MPG for the extra power and nicer interior.

Just returned last night from a 14 day trip to the north east, MD, PA, NY, CT, MA, VT, NH, Maine.Pulled a small 3000lb camper. Averaged 16.5 MPG pulling camper, 65/70 MPH. As high as 21MPG sightseeing, no camper. Love the power, and no smoke.

2008 F250 SD Supercab, Lariet.

That trip was 2200+ miles, with air most of the trip.

2008 Super Duty

2100 miles on my 2008 SD diesel. I drive mostly highway and I drive like there was a egg under my accelerator foot. 14.5 mpg empty with a tail wind is the best I can do. $3.35 per gallon for fuel in NW Montana. It's worth it though, the trucks drives sweet!

F-250 2003 7.3, just replaced 6 injectors and the fuel pump and got 21 MPG driving through Ohio (mostly flat). When I drove through West Virginia I got 18 MPG (hills/mountains)
