1999 F250 Question

Brother-in-law is selling a 1999 F250 Quadcab Lariat 7.3L turbo diesel. Leather interior, spray in bedliner, under 80K miles. It has a towing package. ONLY THING IT DOES NOT HAVE IS 4wd. He is asking $13.5K. I am so tempted but it does not have 4wd. I am wondering if I need it and is this truck worth that. I need it to tow a tractor and or one of my Mustangs. I thought about putting a 5.4L in our 97 or a 351 in or 90. Everyone has told me a Super Duty is a better route. Any comments? Is this a decent deal?

Jump on it. Not to mention it is a "family owned" vehicle. So you know where it's been pretty much.

The 7.3l is the better of the engines.

Just stay on the pavement or parking lot with the 2wd. I have heard of people getting stuck with 2wd diesel trucks in wet grass. As long as you don't need 4wd I say get it.

+1

I was at a horse show this weekend with parking for the trucks and trailers on wet grass. Pretty much all the 2 wheel drive trucks that had to go up any incline got stuck even with their trailers empty.

Big heavy diesel motor + lots of torque + 2wd = You're spinning. If the truck will never leave the pavement or see snow, then it's a good deal.
