I'm hearing a lot of reports that are in the 12-15mpg range. I opted for the 4.30 gears, so I will probably be closer to the 12mpg side of things, especially after the lift. I hear nothing but disappointing reports about the 5.4L in the superduty, most say it is gutless. I think it would be worth the extra 600 bucks to upgrade to the V-10.
As for the beefier tranny's, the dealer said that is not true. He said the transmissions will be identical regardless if it is 4.10 or 4.30 gearing. I hope he's wrong on that, it would be nice to have a tranny with the word "super" in it.

My dash gauge say's 11.0-12.0 thats about 90% 30-45 mph in town back and forth to work. will get an actual math calculation next fuel. only put fuel in her once since picking it up a week ago. will have to get used to this 38 gal tank, 1/4 tank cost me over $30.00, I figure on E about $100 to fill.

I don't feel too bad paying 15 cents more per gallon for diesel than REGULAR gas. I average about 14 MPG around town, which is better than my F150 got. I usually kept the F150 tuned for 93-octane, so I would be paying more for gas than diesel anyway. Plus I get the ultra-cool twin-tip tailpipe!
