Exclamation Buying a used F250/350 and need advice

I need you guys help. I am planning to buy a used 99'-02' F250/350 with the Powerstroke 7.3.liter. They look great and are priced under $15000. The thing I want to know is it ok to buy them with so many miles on them. I am talking 150,000k to 190,000k. Please give me some feed back on this. I am counting on you guys.

assuming regular maintenance, and a caring owner those engines routinely make it to 200-300k+.

X2 on the regular maintenance thing for the motor. Personally - and based on past experience - I'd be more worried about the transmission. We've got a number of 7.3's in the fleet and we've never gotten more than 50,000 out of a factory 4R100. We plow them in the winter and tow landscape trailers in the summer with them, but we also maintain the hell out of them. That 7.3 is a darn good motor though.

I use to have an 03 PSD, these are good engines and routine maintenance is key to any engine of course, but before I bought a truck with 150K to 190K miles on it I would take it to a reputable diesel shop and have them give it a good once over to see if there was any hidden monsters.
And just like 2stroked added, the transmission is another area of concern. the 4R100 is not well known for its longevity, especially if its been used for heavy hauling. Mine was showing signs of craping out when I traded it in at 38K miles, But I was REALLY hard on mine .
Hope this helps .
