Next time you get hammered...each of you need to get a running start. Please post pics of who won.

heck id love to see that tractor. you cant get 150 hp unless youre into 8 cylinder range. but even with an 84 hp turbo 4 (ive got a 111 hp turbo 6 as well), you really can pull just about anything.

and 25 is real fast. usually theyre limited to around 18.5 to 22 because those tires arent safe any faster and good luck stopping 4 56" wheels with one trans brake haha.

Fuzziest logic of all time. Your 6 ton 90hp/65ft lb of torque Luv is going to drag around an unladen Super Duty in 4wd?? All because it's heavier...

Good luck with that.

Not really. Let's take a 152hp John Deere 7730 for an example...

It weighs nowhere near 20 tons of course. Also, it has 564 ft/lbs of torque. It is geared extremely low, with a minimum of 16 gears to choose from. I would wager that the four wheel drive is a bit more effective than that on our SD's too.

There are 6 cylinders that put out 600hp from the factory. The big 3 all have them. The new deeres will get almost 30 mph and international have had 30 mph tractors for years. Most of the european rigs will go 40-45 mph.

Yea, it would. You're right about the gearing, but if you dont have the weight to hold you on the ground, you aint going going anywhere. Dont forget the LUV had a transfer case in it too.

If you ain't putting the power to the ground you're not going anywhere, yep.

If you have no power to put to the ground in the first place (your Luv analogy) you ain't going anywhere either.

weight (heavy)/torque (alot)/gearing (low) = success in the pull

and like Frmboybuck explains below - traction needs to be there or its all moot.

And thats exactly what it is, an analogy.......Getting traction is #1. Everything else is secondary
