2005 6.0L what are the major issues

no warranty? you have engine warranty to 100k miles, and if your looking for something with more than that, be prepared for repair costs as with any vehicle with that many miles.
Head gaskets are a weak point on these trucks. This is a costly repair. Trannies seem relatively bullet proof, haven't heard of anyone personally having issues with the tqshift. I would suggest staying clear of any modded 6.0's though, especially ones with CAI's or programmers. Get the dealer history on the truck for sure and check for any ongoing issues, as there def are some 6.0 lemons out there.
FWIW, my truck just hit 60k km's, the bumper/bumper warranty is just about to end, issues I have had are head gaskets redone within the first 10k's, and an abs sensor replaced @55k, other than that it was just little things like getting the latest reflash to improve cold starting.

Like has been said already, the 6.0L is a decent engine. When modding, they have a tendancy to blow head gaskets. Most people replace the head bolts with studs before modding these days. I don't know what the powertrain warranty is (previous person said 100,000 miles) but the powertrain warranty on the 6.4L is 5 years, 60,000 miles. If the wwarranty was voided, then it has probably been heavily modded and you may want to look elsewhere.

Def not saying to get a 7.3, it is not without its issues either, FWIW the 7.3's have left me stranded a few times but that another topic
Head gaskets are generally not something to be concerned with unless you are adding a programmer or something, not sure what it would cost but I heard around $3500 to replace them by the dealer, probably alot less by an independant diesel shop.
Why does a 2005 with 70k miles not have warranty, you should have 5yr/100k diesel engine warranty? The rest of the truck would have only had the standard 3yr/36k mile warranty of which is no longer under warranty.

Hasn't anyone heard of the o ring problem on the injectors??? My truck has been in the shop 3 different times... And so has 3 of my buddies with 6.0's , I have 50k on the truck... Last time in they replaced the o rings due to a no starting problem, then the reprogramed my computer while it was in the shop and took away some hp @#$#^ that sucks,They only made 6.0 for what 3 years, that should tell you something.... My next truck will be a Chevy.......
