Well, if you are getting an F350, you may as well make it a longbed and a crew cab.

Dually rears always help.

Diesels are garbage w/o a manual transmission and t-case.

Somethings not right about that. I have a buddy thats got an 08 and his gets 8.5-9 MPG too, but everybody else I know is getting 13.5-15 MPG. Maybe its just still breaking in but I don't know.

Have fun with the rest of the truck falling apart. That should take up the money you save on 'better' mileage...

You Dodge folks are a hoot!

Oh I will! My dad has a 2006 Dodge megacab 3500 with 500 hp and a lil over 1000 ft lbs of torque while getting 18mpg. Tows the 40 ft fifth wheel doing 80mph going over any grade while fully loded no problem. Brother has a 2003 Dodge 2500 modded and runs circle around anything adn everything while getting 22mpg. As far as working on the truck for something breaking has been zero hours. My dads truck has 18,000 miles and runs stronger then every. Brothers truck has 187,000 miles and keeps on ticking. As long as you do proper maintance they will last. I do like the fords just the earlier ones with the 7.3L or the 2005-2007 ones with the 6.0. Dodges love them all just like chevys. I am not baised or anything. Would rather drive any of the big three then anything else.

You're a blessed one! Most others have been quite unlucky...

May the Force be with you...

Get the grey bumpers... you won't regret it... especially if you really plan to beat the truck up in the back woods.
The wide track is only available on the dually - not a single rear wheel. As far as the grey bumpers, the chrome will hold up alot better from road debris. The last rig I had wth painted bumpers had rust spots all over from the stones of vehicles ahead within one year. Of course, after one year and over 50k, most of my windshields feel like they've been sandblasted, too.

I have had two of the 08's and neither one has gotten less than 11.5 MPG...ever. Even running 35" Toyo M/T's I average over 13 MPG around town. If people are getting 9 MPG, they either have a problem with the truck or a problem with their right foot!
