My Truck: Modded and Lifted 02 F-250

Not sure if this is the right place to put this or not...

This is going to hurt to do it, but I really need to sell my truck. I simply cannot afford to put fuel in it anymore at the rate I drive. I am almost crying as I type this, but here goes...

2002 F-250 XLT 7.3 4R100 auto. 103xxx miles.
-Trans was rebuilt at 90xxx miles to stock specs, minus the Factory Tech Valve body.
-6.5" Pro-Comp all spring lift. Twin Reservoir shocks with billet mounts in the front.
-Black Powdercoated Pro-Comp traction bars in the rear
-black RanchHand full replacement bumpers, front and rear
-NFab black step bars
-black powdercoated MB Rocker wheels. 18x10, -25 offset.
-37x13.50x18 Nitto Mud Grapplers
-ATS turbo housing and wicked wheel
-DieselSite BRV+ boost fooler
-TurboMaster mechanical wastegate controller
-T-304 stainless MBRP 4" turbo-back exhaust
-Tony Wildman 6 pos chip
-AFE Stage II intake/ProGuard 7 filter
-tripple pillar mount Dipricol Optix guages
-molded carpeted floormats(forgot what kind, but they weren't cheap)
-front and rear smoke color ventshades, AIS smoke color bug shield
-No cracked glass, needs nothing, runs like a raped ape.

And of course, power windows, locks, cruise, etc. I'm sure theres some stuff I missed, too. Asking $24,500 firm.

that's a shame man, but you gotta do what you gotta do. I just got out of my 150 due to way overmileage on my lease, problems appearin, way out of warranty, and my wallet was done . I dont think 24 grand is too bad of a price since you got the 7.3 in there. What you going to replace it with?

I test drove some new Mustang GTs today. They drive SOOOOO good! Smooth, quiet, etc. If I do sell the truck (and that is a big if at this point, not sure if I could bring myself to do it) I will be getting into a base model GT. I will keep it 100% stock (obviously hard to do for me) and just use it as a daily commuter. My 01 Mustang got 17-20MPG on a daily basis and up to 29MPG on trips. As a broke college kid with only a part time job, this truck has just gotten too espensive, and a Mustang would still have a little bit of cool factor, lol. I may try and ride it out because I hate to part with it, but I just might have to. Just trying to see if there is any interest at this point.

Don't do it man... I remember a few months ago when Zairmann couldn't afford his insurance on his superduty and it looks like he bounced back, just ride it out and I'm sure you'll be able to afford it soon.

Yup... Insurance wasn't that much cheaper on a 2004 F-150 FX4, so I said screw it. Brian, what can't you afford? The fuel? Maybe consider ditching the lift and 37s if that is a factor...

The fuel is killing me for one thing..I am driving 400 miles/week this semester between work and school. At 12mpg thats a lot. More than anything, though, I am afraid that something major will break and I will be walking. There is no such thing as a small problem with a truck like this. Injectors, turbo, trans, etc. Heck these tires are going to be close to $1400 to replace. I wasn't really expecting to like the new Mustang I drove but I did. It was smooth, quiet, drove and handled great, not anything like my previous Mustang. Add in good fuel mileage and a warranty, and it is tempting..

Hate to see it go too, don't forget to tip your detailer who made it look so very nice.

250 bucks in my pocket makes the pain i feel for you go away.

Man - I hate to see you sell it. Just as a market gauge - I will toss out the details of what I just paid for my truck...

2004 Crew Cab Lariat, 6.0L 4wd all stock with 96k...I paid $18500 here in the Dallas market. Im a sales manager at an Acura dealer so I got a decent hookup from one of my wholesale buyers (he bought this truck elsewhere, but could not unload it even on ebay for what he was in it for). He lost money to sell it to me, but said he would rather lose money to put a smile on my face than lose money at the auction to a random buyer. PM me if you want more info

Keep the truck and get a motorcycle. That's what I do here in Ohio, plus you have much better weather down there. I use the bike as my daily driver, I ride in rain or shine April through October, even sometimes in March and November. I hear ya on the fuel prices, but I can't pull 10,000 lbs with a Gold Wing, plus the camping is precious family time. Good luck with whatever you decide.

Bummer....but been there too and know what you are trying to do. I had this lifted and heavily modded full-sized Blazer when I was in college (okay, I know that's dating me now) that sucked fuel like crazy and it was a +40 mile drive each day to go to school. It was a beaut in its day with a 4-hue blue color scheme and such and hated to see it go. But college was more important and have since had many nice vehicles, so do what you have to do. Still, we feel for you because that's a really nice rig! Hang tough!
