Looking at a used Superduty
I was on my local FORD dealers lot this weekend and found a 2003 F250 4X4 Supercab XLT with a V10 and only 23,000 miles on it. I have a few questions before I go talk to the dealer.
1. What year did they start putting the 3V V10 in those trucks?
2. What should I look for as far as problems with this engine?
3. What kind of problems should I be aware of on the Superduty trucks in general?
Thanks for your answers in advance.

2005.
2. What should I look for as far as problems with this engine?
Nothing really. The 2V used to have an occasional case of the spark plug poppin out of the head - but that was remedied by 2003

Can't think of anything. If you're into the 'gas mileage' thing (I'm not) you will be dissapointed. You might see about 9mpg in town and 13mpg hwy.
2005.

Pagnew thanks for answering my questions. I am going to go drive the truck this week. I am not to concerned about the mileage its a 3/4 ton truck its going to suck. I am more looking for the increased payload and towing capacity than anything else. I just dont know if I want to hold out for a slightly used PSD Superduty. I am also looking at hanging a snow plow off the front end something I really dont want to do to my current truck.

Thanks for all the anwers. I went and drove the truck last night and talked to the dealer. I noticed on the test drive that the truck wandered like a Class 8 tractor truck does. Do all Superduty trucks do this? It really doesnt bother me that much because I am used to it in larger trucks. I am going to take my time with this one and see what happens.

Well it looks like I am getting closer to buying the truck. I drove it again last night and figured out why it wanders around so much. There was a screw in the right front tire causing the tire to be low. Now all I need to do is get financing and work out what the dealer is giving me for my F150. That and trying to convince the wife I really need a snow plow for it.
