2003 F350 Dies In Rain

Like the title says, truck runs great until it rains.

Completely shuts down, no hesitation, no studder, nothing.

Where to start looking ?

6.0 Powerstroke, 112,000 miles, extended cab.

TIA.

I would start with the battery. If that doesn't help take it in to Ford for a diagnosis.

No sense of humor, huh? Let me ask: have you only posted advice in all 1400+ of your posts?

Actually, I have a great sense of humor... I just don't find this funny, that's all...

Search my posts - outside of General Discussion, I'd say most of my posts are on-topic.

Usually, when people are trying to inject humor, they do something like this:

Sorry if I seem uptight - this thing has been "fixed" twice by the dealer, yet it still happens when it rains.

I was hoping that one of you guys had run into it before...

I apologize for being grouchy...

I had that issue on an older blazer and there was water getting in the battery somehow when it rained.

What did the dealer say it was the last two times. IF its the same thing again, would it be covered under lemon law.

Once it was a position sensor, the other it was a fuel pump relay...

The point being neither item has fixed the problem.

Lemon law only applies to new vehicles.

Is the sarcasm better now?

On a serious note, does it shut down while you're driving or right after starting it up?

does the check engine light come on when it shuts down or before? get the water hose out and start from front to back until it dies. If your not getting a check engine light at all the pcm is prolly loseing batt power.

camshaft position sensor! when it gets wet the water causes an ark and shorts the system and wont run.

This was a real common problem on 4.6L crown vic's and town cars, might be your trucks problem.

OK, I gotta admit - that made me laugh !!!

It shuts down while you are driving. No warning, no shudder, no stutter, etc. It just goes dead. Wait for it to dry and it starts right up and runs fine.

If it is sitting, it doesn't have any issue - I think it is when you are driving and spray is kicking up from the road that something gets wet and screws the whole works up.

No check engine light - it just dies and runs again after it dries out.

F150PARTSGUY - A cam position sensor, huh ?? Maybe I'll try that one myself. Is there a crank position sensor as well ? I think that is what the dealer replaced before.

There is, I guess it could be either one as there location is in a position to both get wet.
