Maybe you meant water in fuel? If its the light on the dash, just drain the fuel filter yourself or take it to the dealer. If not and you just know theres water in the fuel, you have a serious problem with the source of your fuel.

No it's not that. It's what I said it was. Fuel in the Water. He took a napkin, dipped in the water cap and lit it and it burnt to nothing. You can also smell and see the fuel.

The engine will need to be pulled to fix this. He most likely blew a head gasket which is how its getting into the coolant (not water). He may very well have bad injector o-rings/cups as well.

Oh in your coolant/antifreeze. Got it my fault. That most likely sounds like a blown head gasket.

friend of mine with a 2001 had the same thing, turned out to be injector cups.they won't need to pull the motor to do those.

Question Same Here!!!

My 98 F150 has the same problem... losing water and when you open coolant overflow tank you can smell the gas. #4 cylinder (rear cylinder passenger side) is filled with H2O and fouling plug! Truck still runs, just takes longer to warm up and stop missing.

Had my mechanic look at it he says I need complete rebuild (has 210K on stock motor) but I need to have this injector cup problem looked into. I just want to band-aid this thing and sell/trade in.

Can you give me any details regarding the injector cups?

Umm.....we're talking diesel here. Not quite the same engine as the little gassers in F150s. You don't have injector cups like this. If you have gas in the oil you blew your head gasket or you've worn through the cylinder wall into the cooling jacket. Your mechanic is right, your engine is fawked.

Don't be so hard on the little gasser guys. Most of them actually think that there is no difference between a gasoline engine and a diesel engine.
