Parking Garages....

My new office parking garage says 6 ft 6 inches....

that is 79.2 inches

Just measured my truck at the highest point, 78.5 inches.

less than an inch difference. I cannot find anyone in the bld that knows if that means that 1 spot in the garage is 6.6 or if the entire garage is 6.6. I have been in there before not in my truck and didn't notice any other FX4 F250's.

The issue is, there are only 10 guest parking spots and I can never get one...

What do you guys think?

I think the best thing to do is go in there on a nonwork day or at least when its not busy. Drive real slow and go till your uncomfortable

Make one of the guest spots your own. Paint your name on the ground and make a "Reserved for_________" , sign.

i think thats supposed to mean that the lowest point is 6ft 6 inches. all else go beam by beam and measure it lol

yeah, last time I was there I walked around the garage a bit with my tape measure. There are two entrances and one of them has one of those bars that says, WARNING 6' 6" clearance ...it must have been hung lower b.c my truck hit it but I was able to back up and get one of the visitor spots...I have to leave my house at 6:30 am in order to get one of those spots then wait for the security folks to arrive.

Funny thing, my wife's EXPY is only 1.5 inches lower than my truck with the factory luggage rack.

We'll see

Feel your pain there RR. I got into a situation last summer in Charleston SC in a parking garage where it started out fine, but then got shorter as you went in. No place to park in first section, not enough room to do anything in there but go straight and no way out, entrance only with spikes. Got to the other end, but only after having let the air pressure in the tires down from 80 to 20, and had to take the 1/2" high Sirius antennea off the roof. That is how tight it was. Thankfully my son was in the bed and keeping me informed.
Also it was a non-manned garage, so I couldn't even b!tch at anyone!

...also know as 'trafficmaker' in RV site...

Yea, Pagnew is very right!!! Ramp angles got me. I was 2 inches under but didn't think about the angle of the incline at the turn and scraped the hell out of the roof. Scared me to death because I knew I only had one way out. Tire pressure, (Pucker factor).

I know my clearance lights miss my garage door by about a 1/2" when I pull my truck into my garage and it has a 7ft door there is no way you could pay me to try and put it in a parking garage. My leveled F150 was tight on some of the parking garage here.

time for a lowering kit

all jokes aside they usually have the sign hanging a little low for "cushion room" but ive been in some tight parking garages before too. One we cleared under the sign with the windstar +cargo box on top and then we were driving hearing a scraping sound, we drug the cargo carrier on every truss in the building

luckily it was only plastic so no real damage done to the vehicle

Our garage at school says 8'2" on the bottom level and 7'-2" on the next levels. If I go up the ramp in my leveled F-150 with stock size tires (32.6) the antenna hits and I use that as a warning to let me know if I am going to hit. Luckily the movable signs hang lower than the concrete so that is some sort of a warning. A classmate has an '08 Harley F-2/350 4wd and it was a few inches from hitting the 7'-2" area, he got really nervous when the antenna scrapped the beams. If that helps any, lol.

I took my truck to the local laser wash at lunch to wash some of the salt of it barely fit both height wise and width wise. The spray boom was tapping both my mirrors as it made its passes and I am pretty sure the blower hit one of my clearance lights on the way out as well.

I was helping this chick move into a condo a few weeks back and going thru her parking garage to get to the elevator was a PITA. My headache rack cleared by maybe 5-6 inches.....and I'm at stock height.

I couldn't imagine anything lifted even trying to get in there, although there were mostly Benz's, BMW's, Lexus', Audi's, etc. with the exception of a Ram 2500 that looked like it was wedged into it's parking spot.
