Almost what I wanted...

So on a whim purdy much I picked up a new November '08 F-250 6.4 six speed. I will say that the truck is awesome, and a suprising change from this old school 7.3L guy. That motor pulls like a freight train in all six gears, and easily spanks a torqshift in my opinion.

Anyway, pics...

Things I like:
Basic hose out interior.
Simple clean dash.
Very quiet interior.
Fast start!!!
Easy lift tailgate.
Bright headlights.
Solid feelin' clutch.

Things I don't like:
XL grill.
Front sits four inches lower than the rear.
Tail lights all "chunky" lookin'.
Front tow hooks hidden back in the bumper.
"SUPERDUTY" written everywhere like an idenity crisis

So to help out with the don't likes I'm thinkin' a bull bar up front, but I'll prolly have to make it myself as all the commercial ones I've seen are chincy chrome specials that wouldn't let me push things around with. And maybe a front mount hitch also to put my 12k winch into I mounted on some 2" square tube

Anyone have knowledge of a 4x2 leveling kit?

Also tryin' to track down a set of '97-'07 style tail lights to swap in if that will work. (or I make work)

Finally the front tow hooks are so close to the openin' of the bumper it was almost impossible to fit a 1/2" chain and hook through when I was doin' some heavy tuggin' the other day. Gonna have to get creative with a cuttin' tool on that one.

Adrian, nice new truck. Do you still have the 7.3?

Also, I have a spare set of tail lights that I'd trade you for your 08 ones. Can even include the wiring harnesses. They're in great shape.

Nice, and congrats on your new beast!! ...but I think the Torqshift has a slightly higher payload/towing capacity than the 6-speed and though the manual may 'feel' faster, the auto still overcomes...

Regardless, you have a true workhorse of a truck! It will have it's advantages in certain pulling / driving situations (whereas the auto is just an 'overall' plus...IMHO)

Wow, a 2wd diesel truck with a manual transmission...that's a totally different beast than what I am used to. Congrats on the truck. What kind of suspension do the 2wd trucks have in the front? Why do you own 11 trucks?

I'm pretty sure they have coil springs up front... And Adrian is addicted to buying trucks. I know for sure one of the Explorers is a parts truck, possibly a Bronco too. I think the F-150 was/is his dads, and the rest is his. He told me before his insurance agent is on speed dial.

Oh yeah, the 7.3 is parked in the barn at home sittin' comfy at 40k miles. I'm researchin' if they are the same size, and if the lights swap you got a deal on the gay lookin' ones.

Thanky, nope same numbers in the books, and I'm with Manual150 on the fact that the autos suck. Man's truck has an extra pedal!

Twin I beam coil spring tried and true since 1965.

It's not compensation, it is complementation.

It's a straight swap into my style truck, so I don't see why it'd be different for yours.

Nah, if the Torqshift was all that bad why would Ford have it featured in the truck that has recieved all the awards and accolades.

BTW, if you want to talk 'man-truck' ~ you need to start by having a 4X4 (of which ya already have plenty!!)
