05 is now sold, had offer on 02
Well my father ended up selling his 05 F350 today, it was a SC, long box, DRW, FX4, 6.0L/auto with 38,000 miles. He got $20,000 out of it, sold it to a use car dealer who is actually the brother of the owner of the dealership that dad ordered the truck from. While he was there the dealer was asking him what he was going to pull his 5th wheel with now since he was selling the 05. So dad told him that he had just bought a 02 F350 SC, long box, DRW, 4X4, 7.3L/auto with 53,000 miles. The guys eyes lit up and asked it dad wanted to sell it, said that he would give him $22,000 for it, dad just paid 18,000 for it 2 weeks ago. Dad just said no thats ok.
The dealer went on to say that the 7.3L's are like gold, and that he has a very hard time finding them, especially with less than 100,000 miles. Just yesterday he sold a 99 F250 CC, short box, 4x4, 7.3L/auto with 155,000 miles for $14,000.
Here are a couple of pics I snapped last weekend of dads F350s and my F150

Nice looking rigs
IMO though, your dad could have got more for that 05'. Mine is an 05' w/53000 miles and I paid $23K for it. I looked around for over a month for a Super Duty, all were more expensive with about the same mileage...even had 2 deals fall through on me because the dealer ended up selling them to someone local(there were barely any SD's here in Vegas worth looking at).
That 02' 7.3 was a great find though, your dad got lucky there and the dealer is right, they are like gold.

Thanks man! He probably could have gotten more than $20,000 for it but he just wanted to get rid of the truck. It has had a few issues, mainly the 5 injectors that have been replaced. And after being stranded on the side of the road twice, 2 years in a row actually, while headed south for the winter he just didn't trust the truck anymore. So he just wanted it gone!
