My father just purchased 2001 f-450 with the powerstroke diesel. I have a superchip in my 5.4 L supercrew and am all and all pleased with it. He is thinking of buying a chip for his. Is the superchip the right one for the diesel or is hypertech better? I would appreciate any comments.

There are a lot of companies today putting out chips for the diesel. If you check this site www.ford-diesel.com they have quite a few comments on a couple of different brands. And there's a lot of people over there using those brands. Also on the diesel, you can get chips w/different amounts of hp/torque. I went w/the Superchips brand because of their extensive amount of testing that they put their product through. Superchips puts out 3 different chips for the powerstroke and I went with the first (or least amount of gains) one. It gave me 50hp and 100torque gain. Plus w/this one, I didn't have to change my muffler, add any gauges or mess with a different air filter. Check out the computer section here and post your question there. Mike T. can give you all kinds of info on the gains of the 3 different superchips and what you need to do to the truck if you go with the more extreme chips.
