Questions before buying 2008 f250

I'm considering selling my 2001 F150. It's got 121,000 miles on it and it just blew the second spark plug out of the manifold. The first one was a bad surprise...the second one is almost unforgivable. I say "almost" because I'm cheap...the truck is paid for and I could probably live with it for a few more years.

So I got to looking and one of the trucks near the top of my list is a 2008 F250 4x4 crew cab Super Duty with a 5.4L gas burner. The first thing that popped into my mind when I saw the 5.4L was the fact that I've blown 2 spark plugs out of a Ford 5.4L. Does anyone know of any issues with the 2008 vintage 5.4L motor and the spark plugs?

Does anyone know of ANY recurring issues with this model truck?

My F150 has been a pretty good truck overall. It doesn't do any one thing exceptionally well...but it does almost everything reasonably well.

I didn't think the 5.4L Triton had a lot of power in my F150...the F250 is 1,000 lbs heavier...any thoughts on power output? I want to say that the 2008 model puts out 300 HP vs the 2001 Triton at around 260 HP. For those that own the gas burner in the F250...how does the power feel? Can you pass WELL on the highway? I drive a lot of two lane highways where passing is a requirement.

The other trucks making the short list are the Nissan Titan and the Toyota Tundra. Both come with more powerful V8's...not sure which way I'm going yet.

Any thoughts and/or advice is much appreciated.

No - the 3V motor (the '01 is the 2V motor) and especially with the '08 doesn't have any plug issues! You are good there. Yes, the truck isn't going to be the fastest out there, but the chassis, brakes, and other componentry that make a SD truck will work just fine, and if mileage isn't a concern - it will work fine.

Regarding the Nissan Titan and the Toyota Tundra...NO, if you are looking for capabilty...they are simply a lesser chassis with a marginal more powerful motor.

Think about what you are using this truck for!

If you want a better motor and chassis as a combo more than the Jap trucks and wish to stick with a gasser....get the V10!

The tundra and titan, cannot even be compared to a f-250. You are getting a lot better drive train on the f-250. Solid D60 front and 10.5 rear axle, borg warner t-case, torqshift transmission. None of the jap's stuff are even comparable to those.

I love pulling up next to Tundra's and Titan's at stoplights and seeing that look in their drivers' eyes that say "damn, I wish I had bought THAT"!

V10 hands down. The 5.4 is a slug in a Superduty and will only get 13mpg anyways. Id rather have 10mpg and a V10 with some power...

What year did they start using the 3v 5.4? I've been looking at low mileage 2007 and 2008 models.

3v 5.4 V8 and 6.8 v10 engines started in the superduty in 2005

If you get the diesel you get hydroboost brakes, optional dual alternators. PTO on the t-case too. In cab warmer. All kind of good stuff.
