New 7.3 Owner 2nd time around
Hello - been a long time user of these forums. Have had several F-150s (see old signature below). Just purchased a 1997 F-250 4x4 7.3 powerstroke with 173k on it. Manual transmission. So far it's been a great truck. Got almost 20 mpg on the drive home (truck was 3 hours away). It has 3.55 gears in it I believe. It's very clean though - inside and out. No rust even on the typical areas for this year.
Before my last 2 F150's I had a 2000 F250 automatic. Was a good truck also. I really missed the power that these trucks have - especially when compared to an F150. The manual trans is really nice too. Lots more fun to drive. Anyways, just wanted to say hi. Guess I'll be hanging out in these forums a lot more now too.
And BTW, FWIW I work at a Ford dealership as a service advisor. If anyone needs any info or has any questions, I'll be more than happy to try to help out.

Nope - sold it to buy this. It was fun for a while but got old quick. Just didn't enjoy it anymore I guess. To be honest, I enjoyed my '07 F150 with only a 6" lift and 35's more than the '01. The '01 was almost too big for my tastes and while it looked amazing - just wasn't practical enough for my uses.
I am thinking that this '97 would look pretty sweet with a 4" lift though and some 33" tires. The 4" lift would also correct the common front spring sag that these are known for at the same time.
