Used Truck

Hey guys

awhile back I was posting asking about Superduties and engines and what not. About two months ago, I picked up a 2000 F-350 with the V-10 in it. Liked the truck a lot and it was great for work. I got hit by a park district cop a few weeks ago and just collected my insurance money on it as well as the money I had from selling my old F-150. I found two trucks that I have test drove but I am not sure about the price so I thought I'd ask to see what you think would be fair. Its a 2003 F-350 Lariat DRW 7.3l with 70K on it. The dealer won't go lower then $28,500 for it, either. The other is a 2008 F-250 XLT Supercab with around 35k on it. The dealer is asking $30,000 for it. The 08 is probably smartest....doesn't that sound pretty high for the '03?

Thanks

Granted low mileage 7.3L's are damn near worth their weight in gold, but $28,500 is just NUTS!! In July my old man bought a 02 F350 SC, dually, 7.3L/auto, XLT, 4X4 with 53000 miles for $17,500. That 03 you found is probably worth $22-23000 and thats on the high end.

What motor does the 08 have?

The '08 has the 6.4L in it. the dealer that has the '08 gets all their trucks from dealer auctions they have said so they go through quite a few trucks every month. That one has just been sitting there for a couple months. I think the blue book value he handed me with a carfax report said around 33 or 34k

At those prices, I would definitely go for the '08. That '03 should be closer to $20k.

You hear it's crap... thanks for the input. Go do some reading. Other than a few radiator issues at first, it has been a very solid motor which can make some serious power with a few mods.

Most of the problems with the 6.4l are caused by idiot owners. It's really funny how all the people on these forums who actually OWN a 6.4l, have nothing but good things to say about them, but there's always some know-it-all who happens to "know somebody" who owns one that has nothing but trouble. Whatever.

The 7.3, 6.0, and 6.4 were/are ALL made by International/Navistar. The 6.7 coming out in the 2011's is in-house Ford, made in Mexico.
