actually just found that the D50 was alive under F350s till 04 but no record on what was put in its place, just cant find specs of the axles.

As far as the chart you posted thats for DRW not SRW like the truck above.

the guys post was a shot in the dark at best, grooved tires, d60's holding 54's. He could say he had ocean front property in arizona and it would fit in with his post.

Trimble, have ever seen what they do with these trucks? This is not your typical go mudding 4x4 that you are used to these are not used any where near as hard as you use your rig. Here is a video of what that truck is used for.

i honestly think they are used harder than a typical rig they are used constanly unlike normal 4x4 rigs that are only used for x amount of time, normally a day or weekend

Well then thats like saying that an F350 Diesel used to tow a trailer all its life is worked harder than an F350 Diesel that sits in traffic idleing all the time which would you rather have? Each one comes with there own set of unique problems and I am sure that they do quite a bit to these trucks other than just stuff a lift and big tires under it and call it good.

well i would definitely hope it would be alot more than just a lift and tires. Ive seen other trucks like this before, however they are totally different then what we see here. The axles are either totally rebuilt or they are made with different axles, ive seen a few of these on rockwell 2.5 ton axles and one on unimog axles.

I cant say that the axle has or has not been rebuilt totally from that picture or from the article. But one BIG problem this truck will have is bearings The axles unless they did the conversion will also sport the UNIT bearings which really really suck for big tires.

Everything I have found indicates that all super duty trucks since either 2002 or 2005 have the Dana 60 front axle. I'm not sure why that link says that it has the Dana 50. The Dana 50 was used in the Ford F-250 and selectively in the F-350 from 1998 to 2004. This axle was also the only OEM axle used in Four-wheel drive Ford Excursions. The gross axle weight rating of a Dana 50 is 5000 lbs. I took a picture of my front diff just now. Part number on the differential housing is 2006813-1, which is a Dana 60 according to this website:

LOL! I went out and took the same pic! Yours came out much more legible than mine, but my diff says the same thing as yours.

I took it with my Blackberry in complete darkness in my garage. I'm surprised it came out at all!

well that settles it, your F350 does have a D60 now what about F250's are they still on the D50's. I know the DRW F250-F350 are D60's they never changed them over to the D50. Maybe they ended it sooner for the F350 but not the F250... weird. And what does "selectively" mean how would you end up being the unlucky one with a weaker front axle?
