Need your help

Ok, not sure if you have read my post "a good deal" if not, I am getting a F250. Here is the problem, I love my 07 F150, but have always wanted the 250. So, I am asking for your help. I have heard all the problems with the 6.0L, reading up on the 6.4L. Would like the 7.3L, but the years are older than I want to move to. So I guess I am looking at 06-09 maybe an 10. I am not sold on the 2011 yet, not to sure about the front end sticking out so much. What year and engine size is the best and why, not to be rude, but I would like to hear from the guy or gal who drives that certain year and engine size. Not the guy who has read everything or knows what a buddy has said, but I will read every comment.

If you're not looking to make alot of power then an 02 or 03 with the 7.3L is the best IMO, but thats too old for your criteria. We have an 02 F350 crew cab pickup in the work fleet, and it gets driven HARD every day of its life. The truck is at around 195k miles and the truck itself is starting to fall apart, but the engine still runs strong.

We have several 6.0L trucks and 1 6.4L truck in our work fleet. We have 2 2003 trucks with the 6.0L and they continue to have tons of problems. We have 2 2007 6.0L trucks and one has not had any problems. The other one went in this year for 4 new injectors. Both have about 50k on them. Our 6.4L has not had to go in for any repairs that I'm aware of, but it loves its fuel. It consistently gets 8-9mpg unloaded and around 6mpg at 26k GCWR. Keep in mind that this is an F550 with 4.30 gears that weighs almost 15k without a trailer. I have driven all of these trucks for quite a few miles. I've driven one of the 03s and the 07 with the bad injectors half way across the country on more than 1 occasion.

Definitely if you are getting a 6.0L get the newest one you can. The later the year the better they seem to run. On any truck with a newer engine (ie after the 7.3L) you're either going to have to pay the extra money in repairs or in fuel. Six of one, half dozen of the other really.

Hence my recommendation in your other thread for a V-10 gasser. What you lose in gas mileage will be made up for by lower cost per gallon and lower maintenance costs, and a used gas truck will be cheaper than a diesel.
