Gas Cap solution?

Everytime I fill up we obviousely remove our gas caps. I usually let mine hang down onto the body of the truck. I just recently waxed my truck and noticed some nice scratching where the cap rubs against the truck. Anyone have a solution for this???

Replace the gas door with one off an '09-'10. They started to put a little tab on the door to hold the cable for the gas cap in '09.

I hang mine on the fuel door latch. It gets bound up just right so it doesn't even touch the paint on the quarter panel or fuel door

Go to Home Depot and buy some of those self adhesive hooks and stick one inside your fuel filler door. All of $3.00, and you'll have enough hooks left over in the package for your next eleven trucks.

That's the answer if you live in a full service state, like NJ. I tried the Griot's rubber gas cap protector on mine this weekend, but it sits straight down from the filler, the cap on the other hand swings off to the left on mine. So, I cut the tether. My '01 F150 had a bunch of fine scratches I had to constantly buff out, the attendants here in NJ can be brutal.

It depends on what job build number you have. I don't think they added the hook till job 3 '08.
