Installation is free too, if you bring the truck to them. No doubt about it, that is standing behind your product.

As for the quality of the truck, I don't know. I haven't had it running or anything. I was told it runs good, the dealership was suprised they didn't want a new transmission put in. I bought it with the scrap transmission in the bed. I got it cheap. Cheaper than any of those transmissions. Truck looks solid, engine is clean, airbox seals good. It has a few miles, but seems to be maintained. I don't mind paying for a good trans, but would it be a waste on this truck?

How hard would it be to put it behind one of my 5.4s if this truck didn't work out. I know diesels have a 6 stud torque verses 4 on the gas ones. Never really looked at the bellhousings.

The 5.4L uses a different bolt pattern, so the short answer is no it won't swap over.

You should be able to start the truck without the trans for a short time to see if it runs. If you did get it that cheap and its got anything short of a hole in the block or a melted piston the engine is worth fixing.

I'm about 80% convinced to go for a BTS transmission. Hopefully the shipping won't kill the deal for me. Only have to convince the wife now.
There is something to be said for buying something you know you won't have to worry about anymore. Then whatever else I do to this truck, the trans will be fine with it.

But, if I can get the permission for this, then I can save the forgiveness for the next thing.

BTS transmission ordered.

Well, I called today and placed my order for a BTS trans. It's being built on Aug 23.
Thanks to everyone for their input and recommendations.
Should give me enough time to put in some overtime at work and pay for it.
Have to order some guages for the truck now. Trans temp, boost, and Pyro. Probably going with Autometer, open to suggestions though.

if your looking at gauges take a look at the edge cts it's pretty sweet and cost the same as a analog gauges and has a ton of other options

I actually prefer to have the guages themselves rather than a module screen such as the edge. I was looking at Isspro guages yesterday just after I posted. They have a much better selection of guages. I really like the option of adding more gauges such as HPOP and fuel pressure later on and Isspro has those where Autometer didn't have the HPOP. (at least not in the series I was looking at.)

Anyway still in the research stages for guages, but right now I am liking Isspro.

Please tell me why you prefer or dislike one brand or another.
