f350 V-10 help

I know theres prob a thread somewhere already, but I cant find it.

I have an 01 f350 w/ v10, and I love it. However, the fuel economy is nothing to brag about. Its strange. Sometimes its decent for a few weeks, then Its terrible again. I know its not gonna get great mileage, but I literally cant go over 200 miles on a tank. Ive tried everything, tuneup, plugs, pcv, air filter, fuel additives, premium fuel. Bit still nothing. Even when i take it easy and dont gun it for no reason, I notice no difference in economy. Does anyone have any idea what it could be? Btw- the truck only has 87k miles on it, and most of my driving is around town. Thanks in advance!

Hmm, I get aroung 8 mpg. So 220 miles is a really good tank for me.

My buddy was getting 9 MPG with his Chevy 2500 with the 6.0 V8 and 400 pounds of tools in the bed toolboxes all the time. Part of life with big/heavy trucks.

How many miles? Maybe a stopped up catalytic converter or bad O2 sensor? Just trying to think of anything.

Yep. My sister's ex has a C3500 dualie with an 8.1 and the best he's seen is 10 mpg. Overall average has been about 8. The 8.1 sucks oil too.

It's a strong motor. It just sucks gas and oil. The Allison tranny is strong too.

How bigs the gas tank? My grandpas 01 V10 can go 320-330 miles on a tank and it's a 32 gallon tank. Still only 10mpg though.

did you replace the fuel filter? my v10 gets 14 all the time no joke I get close to 500 miles on my tanks if I ran it dry Iam sure I could hit 520ish. But mines also 2wd with 4.30 gears.

What gears, tire size do u have? Is it unloaded?
I plan on, hopefully, within the next year puttin a ford v10 in my 97 f150. I read on here where one guy did it to his 01? scab and i think he had maybe 3.73 gears and he said he was getting like 17mpg. I just got my 4.88's installed. With 35's, im hopin the v10 will get atleast 12-14mpg. I don't know how correct his gauges were after that swap because 17mpg seems a little high.
^^^i mean he gets 14 with 4.30 gears, im assuming stock tire size.^^
My 97 4.6 f150 got less than 10 with the 35's and stock 3.55's. lol

Does anyone know if they electric fans for the V10? My son inheritied my dad's 2004 250 that is at 54xxx miles. The only thing that we did to the drivetrain was put some aftermarket wheels/tires on it but they measured to be the same size as the stock ones that were on there. The milage never increased/decreased when we did that. I was thinking of doing cold air intake and efans if I can ever find any.
