I have a 2002 F-250 SD / V-8 / 4WD / auto / sb. The other day when sitting in driveway I noticed that when the engine was off, the steering wheel had about 1 1/2" - 2" free play when turning side to side.. however when the engine was started (power steering in effect) there was no play what-so-ever.. Is this normal? It seems that in the 8 years I have owned the vehicle I have never payed any attention to it.. I wanted the opinion of others before I went to the local FOMOCO dealer to see what he might say or better yet what he might try to extract in un-needed repair $$$$ from my pocket.
