Here's an 01 X swap....yes, it's the same truck.

Besides the obvious - front bumper assembly, grille & headlights, you'll need a wiring harness because the 00-04 lamps use a 9007 and 05 lamps use a H13 (9008). Also you'll need to either cut up the existing header panel or buy a new one ~$50.

Time - a few hours and can be done by yourself....although it would be easier for an extra hand to help hanging the bumper.

What is the deal with "cutting up the existing header panel"? Does the grille and lights not fit right in?

Short answer, no.

The 00-04 X (99-04 Superduty) use a two piece headlight and turnsignal setup while the 05 X (05-07 Superduty) use a one piece combo setup. The header panel that holds the lights are built differently due to the two styles. A person can cut the old one to fit the newer lamps, I believe BamaSixGuns has a template either on here or on powerstroke.org.

Also, the bumper/grille is different. Example, a person could keep the old bumper and still use the new headlight with no problems but to put an 05 grille with the old bumper, they'd have to cut about an inch off the bottom of the 05 grille and zip tie the grille in place at the bottom. Or buy a CNC cut 05 grille to fit the old bumper for $298 on fleabay.

The 00-04 header panel/grille use 4 snap in mounting locations on the bottom and the 05 uses 5, in different locations.

Also, the filler piece that goes below the headlights can be replaced or just trimmed up. In the 2nd pic, it's the black plastic piece by the turn signal bulb in front of the tires.

Here's my 03 F350 when I did my swap.....

old.....

naked....

new....

thanks for the info. i mainly want the headlights. my bumper is in perfect shape and i really dont want to go to the expense of replacing it. i would like another grille. mine does have 2 honeycombs broken in it. ill just start with headlights. i found some on ebay that come with a harness to convert the bulbs and it comes with a templet to cut the header panel for fitment. thanks again!!
