Wabasto heaters?

Anyone running fuel fired heaters in their diesels for those in colder climates?
I spend a bit of time at my cabin in the winter and the truck cannot be plugged in. Looking at options to make sure it will start when I need to go back home. I'm also considering a small generator. What wattage are the block heaters on a 7.3?

Block heater runs about 900-1000 watts. Those Webasto heaters don't look cheap...

Looks like the Webasto or Espar heaters will run about 1200 bucks up here. Maybe I'll look more into a small generator.

Yes, basically they are plumbed into your fuel tank and burn fuel to heat the coolant. Many options available such as timers, remotes and fan kits to keep the cab warm. I just want the engine warm. Might be too pricey though. Going to do some more research later on.

When my neighbor goes to his hunting camp (no electricity, 4 miles back in the middle of no where), he plugs his truck into his Honda generator. He can run it all night and that thing just purrs. You can't hear it inside of his hunting camp. But they aren't cheap either.

Harbor Freight has a 800-900 watt gas engine electrical generator on sale for around $90 right now. Could be worth considering if you want to stay on the cheap side

It's on sale for $120, and he's definitely gonna need something bigger than that...
