4.10s or 4.30s

Anyone have a 5.4 with 35s and either one of these gears? Opinions?

My wife's truck has 35s and 4.10s. 02, F250 Supercab shortbox auto 4x4. It's ok low end but runs out of steam on holidays when we are climbing hills. No problem maintaining the speed limit though. I'd like to be able to try out the same on 4.30s just to see, but I suspect the money would be better spent on engine upgrades like a tuner, intake, and exhaust. I have an 03 reg cab with 4.10s and 34s, it's lighter but I've never took it out on a bigger highway. Around here it does fine though.

No hills here in Florida. Mine is a crew cab and I'm leaning towards the 4.30s. I have a set of 4.10s not put in yet but I don't wanna swap them twice. Thanks for the input.

With the 5.4L 4.10 gears really should have been standard equipment. If you had stock tires you'd be best off with 4.10s, but with 35s I'd be looking more at either 4.30s or 4.56s. I've ridden and driven F150s with 5.4L with 35s and 4.56 gears and I wouldn't do it any other way.

The way I see it with the 5.4L
Stock: 4.10
33s: 4.30
35s: 4.56
40s: 5.13

If somebody is looking for a set of 4.30's, I'll swap with you. I need a set of 3.73's.

you didn't tell us much about your vehicle, your profile info shows you owning an F-150 but you're here in the Super Duty section

you'll want the 4.56's (or 4.88's if you tow much)

4.88 with only 35s is gonna make that engine turn some high rpms going down the road. It'll pull a house, but its gonna suck gas doing it. I'd probably only do 4.88s if he's towing heavy (20k) on a regular basis.

I hate my 4:30's. My V10 gets stupid bad gas mileage. I hate getting 8mpg-10mpg driving like a grandma. The motor runs great but it kills my pocketbook.

If only I had a Cummins 8.3L 24V ISC engine to put in the truck..... Hmmm.....

Good thing my wife bought me one for Christmas!!

I guess I should start a new thread about my new motor instead of hijacking this one.... My appologies Mr. bnehila.

It's an 04 crew cab 5.4 on 35s. I used to have a lightning. So if my profile is wrong then my bad. My truck is on one of the last pages of the show your superduty thread. I ordered my 4.30s. I have a set of 4.10 new in the box ford gears if anyone is interested.
