While the onboard display generally sucks, remember you have a 38 gallon tank. With a full tank, you can easily get over 500 miles.

Never let it hit empty or you will get to exerience the joy of dealing with plugged fuel filters. I normally don't let mine get below half a tank and yes these fuel prices are just plain stupid.

I notice there is no check engine light either is that a diesel truck thing? There is a TDI jetta at the dealership and it has a check engine light. I knew my old 2005 F150 so well and it was supercharged. Diesel is all new to me. Thanks for all the info.

There is a check engine light on my truck but it's 7 years newer than yours. Mine has been on ever since that pesky EGR system fell off the truck.

It's between the ABS and glow plug light on my truck.

Only reason is checked is because DE is very strict on emissions when then check engine light is on. Could be a dead bulb I guess. thx

Dave, the 99 has an actual light that says SERVICE ENGINE SOON. It should light up when you first turn the key on.

Dumb question but is there a owners guide pdf or zip I can download for my 1999? Of course the one for my truck is missing just the empty case is left.
Not asking anyone to do anything illegal please forgive me if this is the case.

Btw my truck came with 2 keys but no Fob. We have loads of ford fobs at the dealer but i have no clue on how to program hem or if its even possible? Anyone know the FCC ID that matches my truck and the procedure. I cant see why a lariat model would not include at least this simple item?

Guess its like TVs what would we do without remotes. My dads wont even turn on the tv if he cant find the remote. I am like what did you do back in the days of no remotes. He just told me to leave him alone or find the remote lol.

Any newer 3 button Ford fob will work. Put the key in the ignition and go from off to on and 8 times (or is it 10?) in 30 seconds, ending in ON. The doors will lock and unlock. Press a button on the remote, any button. Turn truck off. Remote is now programmed. You can program multiple remotes at one time.

Where are you in Delaware?

Also diesel's are exempt here from any emissions testing. Horn, lights, brakes, no tint, and you are good to go.
