2002 F-250 7.3L Diesel... Thinking of buying, please advise

I am currently test driving a 2002 F-250 7.3L Diesel with 82500 miles on it. Extended Cab, 4WD. I am considering trading in my 2003 F-150 on this. Their asking price is $19995, I believe. What should I be looking into? What problems should I be expecting? What should I have the stealership do before I take ownership (if I decide to)? I sure hope I'm not opening a can of worms... I do know I really (legally) need something bigger than my F-150 5.4L Gas GUZZLER for pulling a 20ft cattle trailer and 20ft flat bed goosenecks...

Any advice is greatly appreciated...

Thanks
Tim

As far as I know, it's completely stock. I did find out a couple of things today though... It was used for plowing.. So, who knows how bad it was abused. Also, on the driver side, the rear door is completely missing the lower latch. I would think that would be a major safety issue that the dealership should have never over looked... Found some oil at the rear of the engine, the oil pan shows rust, so does the trans... So, yeah, I've found some issues, that actually have me a little scared...

Thanks
Tim

Keep looking one of my friends just picked up a very clean 2000 F250 with a 7.3 for 11k with 175k on it. You are going to have some expensive fixes on that truck if it was used and abused plowing snow.

Man, such a rare find, a 7.3 stock with under 100k. Too bad it's in rough shape.

$19K is way too much for a 7.3 that has been plowed and has oil pan rust. Oil leaks are normal for these trucks, it's a way of life with them. Oil pan rust means that the motor will eventually need to be pulled to replace the pan... no easy way around it. The plowing really depends on what the old owner was plowing. Was he just plowing his driveway or was he plowing for a business?
