I do not see any real noticeable difference in power/performance between my 6.8L V10 and this 6.2L V8. The 6.2L seems to have better throttle response, the exhaust sounds more truck like or like it has an aftermarket exhaust tone. Just finished a short camping trip pulling my 34', 10,000 lb loaded Jayco travel trailer, mpgs over 300 miles traveled averaged 10.5 mpgs, V10 usually averaged 8mpg puling the same camper. In tow/haul, the tranny (3.73) would drop from 6th to 5th any time there was a hill/incline as small as a normal overpass, in comparison, the V10/4.30 would stay in OD/5th in tow/haul and not drop down to 4th. This was all at 65 mph with the cruise on. Due to the different gearing ratios between the twotrucks, rpms are much different at 65mph. The new truck still has under 1,000 miles on it, I would expect the mpgs to get better over the next few thousand miles.

I test drove a new CrewCab the other day and when I put the gas to it (both from a standstill and while going about 25mph) there was no jerk or oomph, if you know what I mean. It just slowly accelerated just like I was gradually increasing the pressure. I realize the F250 is havy but is that how the 6.2 should be? I've had a 2001 V10 Excursion and now have a 2010 F150 Scab with a 5.4 and 3.55 and you know it when you hit the gas on them.
I really would like to get the F250 but don't need the added expense of the deisel.
Thanks for your response.

What kind of non towing mpg's are you getting?

There is a test drive setting at the dealer, this setting did not affect the trucks acceleration when I test drove it. It affected things like disabling the key fob remote start.
Right now I am at 10mpg, I do not drive the truck much because I am mostly on my motorcycle or Focus. When I do drive it, it is mostly short city driving to the local Home Deport or Lowes, or picking up firewood nearby.
I still have less than 1,000 miles on it.

When I test drove mine it spun the tire. I would love to say tires but I'm pretty sure only one tire is chirping. And I don't think they would spin w/ the dif locker engaged. I still waited for the temp gauge to get warm b4 abusing. Just my respect for vehicles I guess from growing-up in a dealership.
