2010 6.4 deisel gas milege? Any ideas?

I just purchased a 2010 power stroke super duty 6.4l and i am averaging 12 miles per gallon city or highway, truck has 35in open country m/t on 20s with 4 inch lift 3.55 gears.....is this normal? Also when im wide open throttle when shifting to 3rd gear it seems to (nose dive) it is automatic. I am new to the diesel thing put want to get more gas mileage out of it and was thinking a programmer might help? Any info will be appreciated

trick question, diesels don't get gas mileage...

12 city is probably right, my dads 2010 f250 w/ 3.73's gets ~15.5 highway stock so 12 isn't to far off. remember unless your tuned your mpg is also inaccurate as your speedometer is off due to larger tires.

i believe it is 5mph off....i compared to my wifes new focus goin down the road side by side .....anyways when i fill it up it always say 348 miles to empty on a full tank......also what is the egt or egr's? would a k&n filter and programmer possibly help? dont want to do the delete kit but heard that would almost double my gas mileage

EGR- Exhaust Gas Recirculating valve
EGT- Exhaust Gas Temprature

Do not bother with an intake on the newer diesels until you are above the 500HP mark. Yes doing the DPF and EGR delete with custom tunes from one of the reputable 6.4 tuning guru's will help if you can keep your foot out of the injection pump after putting the tune in it.

I was getting 16 mpg highway and 14 mpg in the city with stock wheels. Now that I'm runnig 37's I stay around 11-11.5 for both highway and city.

DPF delete and custom tune should get you at least 4 mpg better or more. It definatly won't double it.

Since I don't use my truck as a DD I'll keep it stock for a while. I'm scared to void my warranty. lol

Here is the deal, the DPF and regen with it's out of control fuel consumption and off the chart EGT is worse for the turbos and motor than a tuned "voided" warranty truck. I run the mild +150 tune, never see over 1200 egt's, went from 13mpg to 17-18 still towing, and have a dealer that doesn't care.

We won't see these stock trucks 10-15 years into the future like we see 7.3L's still runnin around.
