Waiting to start a Diesel

In the winter I can understand but is there a real need to wait a few seconds before starting a diesel in the summer?

Just get in a routine when you get in the truck and you will never notice it after a while. Although when get into a gas vehicle and you are staring at the dash waiting for the glow plug light to go you really feel like a tard when someone asks what you are waiting for.

In hot weather... not really. On warm restarts, most of the times your glow plugs don't even turn on.

I dont cycle unless its in the 40's... I need to make a switch that disables them in the summer. I like to use my remote start in the the hot weather for the AC and hate the fact that their cycling in 90 degree weather

I just turn the key and give the fuel pump half a sec to prime then fire it up. Never gets cold enough in Florida to ever need them

I've gotten into a habit of waiting about 5 seconds and then cranking. needed? probably not. but it's a habit from the old 90's trucks that had the dash light you had to wait on.
