Toughest Truck!

What year and model of Ford truck do you think is the toughest. I'm looking to get either a F-250/350/450 at the Dallas auto auction and then throw on a rancho lift kit with some wheels.

Ford never made a tougher truck after '79.

what do you want it for? honestly, from 99+ Ford has been building some killer trucks.

I love the 80-96 body styles, but the 99+ trucks are real beasts

it really just boils down to how much you want to spend. The 6.0 has a stigmata, so they are cheaper. They come with associated risks, but damn they're powerful. My 06 is rated for a measely 325 HP, 570 TQ. The 6.4 is even better.

as far as lifts, mine has a 4.5 Icon lift. it sits 7ft tall at the cab, 5 ft tall at the bed rails with 35" tires. parked next to my Expedition, it makes my Expy look like a toy

I wouldn't touch a 6.0 at an auction unless you have 5 grand to throw into it to fix it right.

Awesome, I was looking at the 4.5 inch Rancho. I'm really looking at getting a 6.4, hopefully with low miles. We will see where the price falls...i'm crossing my fingers for one to slip through the cracks at the auction.

I've got a code reader and a friend who knows diesels, so its not a problem.

even if you get a 6.0 with a bad EGR or plugged up cooler...we are only talking about $1,500 in parts and 1-2 days of downtime.

Unless you find a blown turbo, or have to replace a bunch of injectors...I wouldn't be scared of a 6.0 at auction. the $$$ savings will offset most any problems you run into IMO

does this code reader print money to fix the truck? lol if ur friend knows diesels he should give u a little insight about the bullet proof 6.0 before u buy one especialy one at a auction

now let the 6.0 guys get all emotional haha

above does have a point about making sure what to look for on a 6.0 when buying

still think alot of stigmata the 6.0 has is nothing but that. a stigmata. hope you run across a nice 6.4 in the right price range. PSD's are freaking expensive everywhere I've looked. I lucked across mine. It's illegal for road use at the moment because of the lift. So the Dealership was having a hard time pushing it...that, and on this island where foreign cars reign, people are worried about little things like MPG's, not awesomeness

Any F250 out there! They have a front end that could crush a brick wall and the stance of a bull. So dont mess with em because you most certainly will get the horns! haha
