Whats this 00 7.3 worth?
found someone selling his 2000 f250 7.3 at a truck show today. has 134k miles on it, leveled on 33s, mbrp 5" exhaust, and an xcal 3 programmer. truck is in great shape, except for the little bit of rust on bottom of the driver door like my 150 has lol. question is, is 134k miles alot to just be buying this truck at? i know the engine will run awhile but just wanting everyones opinion. hes asking 16,500 for it and i blue books for around 12, so what does everyone think its worth?

overpriced IMO. Some guys will tell you that is a steal. I disagree. at that mileage, you are going to be replacing ball joints, brakes/rotors, seals, fluids...you know, all the normal 100,000 miles stuff.
unless the guy has already done all of that, I'd get him down at least another $2-3,000. We're talking about a 12yr old model truck.
btw, what is the build date on that truck? should be on the door sticker

yeah im going to offer him 12 if i decide to go back and look at it. now do you guys think its a good idea to go from my 00 f150 with 143k miles to this 7.3 with 134k? i am in the market for a diesel and liked this one and is affordable for me if i got it for the right price. anything to check/lookout for on this truck?

Something is fishy, the 00 year 7.3 trucks did not use Xcal tuners for tuning they used an actuall chip or selectable chip that plugged directly into the ECM. Considering I just looked at two trucks lately one was an 06 Lariat 6.0 with 90,000 miles for 31k and the other was an 04 XLT 6.0 with 32,000 miles for 32k both were 4x4 crew's and bone stock so I would say that truck is fairly priced given the market.

115K is nothing for these trucks. Just be prepared to deal with the normal issues at that mileage if they haven't been addressed yet... Ball joints, wheel bearings, etc. Nothing major, but they will need done. I've done all of those, and my truck is very solid at 150K.
Dave, are you looking for a new ride?

Zach, no I just like to keep up on what these trucks are going for because you never know when you are going to come across a good deal. I just dumped $2500 into new tires, front end repairs, rear U-joints, and a couple of other things lately I also have to much into making this truck reliable and mods to get something else and have to do it all over again right now. I have a few things up my sleeve for cheap mods before winter gets here.

Yes, it sounds like a good deal, but the trans is these trucks are not solid. I mean, they're better than Dodges, but the 4r100 isn't the best thing in the world, especially once you start adding power and if you're rough on it.
Gotcha Dave. I'm trying to convince the g/f's dad to sell their 04 dually... with 31k miles on it.

SCT most definetly did make the Xcal for the 7.3L trucks. The 7.3L was the one truck that COULD use a selectable chip, but all trucks can use a programmer that reflashes the ECM, like the Xcal. The canned tunes that come on the Xcal suck though, but they do support custom tunes.
I'd hate to truck shop in your area if thats what trucks are going for, as they are on the high side. FYI I bought my 06 F250 3 months ago for $30k with 25k on it. It is also a CCLB 4x4 loaded lariat truck. Mine booked out at only $32k with the miles it had. The $30k price also included an additional 3yr powertrain warranty as well.
