Baptist Hospital Network -> One of Leading heat transplant hospital in the World

Why do you think I live in Joplin? Cost of living is LOW LOW LOW and I'm retired on a fixed income! I *MOVED* here from Chicago when I retired for that very reason.

Where do you get that I'm calling you a stupid *** redneck? Kiss my ***. Then again, if the shoe fits, wear it.

It's a FACT that northwest Mississippi is one of the lower cost of living areas of the country, and wages follow. Better than southwest Missouri, but a HELL of a lot lower than just about all of the major cities in the country.

You wanna see expensive? I'm in San Diego right now. RN's make 6 figures here, but the average apartment rent is well over $1000 and a dozen eggs is 3 bucks. You aren't gonna buy a single family house out here in a neighborhood where English is spoken for less than 300k.

GLC ftw. Them joplin folk are nice people.
I for one know that in them medical field you can get caught up in how much money you could possibly make if you have this degree or that degree, but that's hard chit to accomplish and good frickin luck even getting a decent job when you graduate.
You'll get chit hours, the minimum pay allowable, garbage benefits etc.
P.s you can look where I come from http://www.city-data.com/city/Hastin...nsylvania.html
Just because you are in some uppity up town don't mean jack bud.

If you are making the money for it. Mud your current truck and buy a diesel for street fun.
However unless you do make biigg bucks the days of an unnecessary diesel dd are dwindling.

Betcha that in your location, you will start off at the bottom end of that, if you can even get hired full-time.
We have talked about this before and you are right somebody is blowing major smoke up his ace. To start out at 8-100k a year is dang good money and to top out close to 200k is very good. But to get a job out of college making 250 you must be drunk. Kids out of harvard dont get that.

Read his reponse he has two years left, a lot can happen. If you make 250 I will be the first to eat crow and be jealouse. LIke I told him dont be cashing checks yet, you havent graduated and you dont know what the market is going to be. Weve seen these fads come and go, look at teaching 5-10 years ago, now you can find a job teaching monkeys how to dance.

i talked to my mentor last night,

I said what is a no bull **** answer about how much you make
He said last year he made around 350,000, and He IS a CRNA
I asked how the hell he did that??
He said:
1) he is not married so he works all the time
2) he Invests in the hospital ( did not know that )
3) he owns a Tacobell and a sonic (did not know that )
4) he owns part of a roofing company that only does full roof replacement

he told me that if im smart with my money that i can do the same thing

so now that ive cleared everything up.

Well now that is justifiable he has other things contributing to it than being a CRNA

Base CRNA would prob be around what they are telling you thats just facts but hell yes if you are good with your money you can make as much as you want and I hope you do man

Investments are everything

I would love to have a diesel as my DD but could not justify the price for a "just to have" thing lol

If you jack up a diesel why would that not be good for mudding guys? Wont the great torque help turn them big swamppers??

Im glad you are researching ideas and getting ideas from experienced people. A lot more than a lot of kids these days have, and you have goals, also a lot more than what most kids have.

He makes 350 which includes his taco bell, and roofing company, he is not making all that from being a CRNA. You could do the same thing, but it takes many years to gather the coin to start a franchise or a company. Dont expect to get out of college and start all those ventures right away. Chances are you will be married at some point so working 60-70hours a week and family doesnt mix. Take the numbers put out here for a good starting point. I have seen this job your are pursueing and talk to people just coming out of college. Expect to make 80-130k a year out of school. Which that is dang good boy, but its a lot different than 250k. Whatever you do not start making big financial decision until you have a sign sealed and delivered job offer. This economy is brutal, the last thing you need is to have a nice degree coming out of college, you dont have the job you expected or pay you expected and you have this 50k truck loan looming over your head. It would suck to get out with a nice degree and have a bankruptcy or a repo on your record. Just be smart and shoot for the stars, and dont cash checks you dont have.

Im not saying this job wont be there in 3 years but you dont know with this economy. As I said earlier fad jobs come and go, ask all these people with teaching degrees. And the way the government dinks with medical chit right now, you never know. Government could mandate wages or install some legislation that drives down salaries.

And biggest peice of advice I have is have a back up plan, and plan your life out at least 5 years ahead
