First regular production F250 Diesel?

As the title suggests, I am curious when Ford started regular production of a diesel powered F250...or F350 for that matter. I remember my uncle bought a brand new 1974 F250 with an awesome 360 powerhouse under the hood. It was a great truck and I wish I had it today, I practically learned to drive in it. But, if one were to find an early F250 Diesel, where would he start?

Thanks,

Nunya
