He did an EGR delete so that one's ruled out. All it takes is pushing to hard for just a little to long and solid parts become liquid parts with out any way to monitor them.

My truck is COMPLETELY stock except the EGR delete, I'm getting my exhaust and EGR probe done tomorrow morning

could be the EGR valve too now that i am thinking about it. stuck open and just letting it flood the intake with hot spent exhaust...

so many things it could be too

fuel filters clogged, air filter clogged, VGT system, EGR system, check the basics first, then worry about the rest. EGR valve is Basic compared to the turbo.
Like said, I've deleted the EGR already, air filter looks new, I am getting close to needing an oil and fuel filter change. I'll clean the VGT stuff tomorrow as well

guy smarter than me
Just fyi the duty cycle is whats being commanded and not necissarilly what the turbo is doing. The computer could ask for 85% and only get 50% for instance if the vains are sticking. Also the duty cycle at wot is 35% I believe. The lower the number the vains are open and the higher the number the vains are closed to act as a smaller turbo which makes the hair dryer sound or whistle on the pmax. I believe the highest it will ever go is 85% and the lowest 35% but not sure on the lowest. I know it cant open all the way(lower number) or you would have vain and turbine blade contact as they would open into each other. As I said not sure on the lower number being 35% as the lowest.

looking for more info alsp

Apparently the vanes will go from 15% to 85%. I say that because in the literature Ford sent out when the 06E17 recall was issued, those percentages were listed as the "full range duty cycle".
