Should my fuel mileage be THIS bad??

The truck is a 2005 crew cab fx4 powerstroke, all stock except EGR delete. The dash readout reads 12.2 and my edge CTS shows 10.3 what gives?!

That's terrible - my sister's roommates have a 2005 F-450 crew cab dualie with a stock 6.0 that gets 12.

I'm getting 13.5 in town and between 16-18 on the highway depending on conditions and how heavy my foot is that day. That's with a moderately modded truck and Innovative Diesels 100HP tune. All in all that's pretty decent for an 8000lbs truck.

How are you driving it? How hard are you getting in the boost? Have you actually hand calculated the gallons used per miles driven?

For a mostly stock truck, no it's not that bad and my truck was running 10-12 in town and I was lucky to see 14.5 on the highway.

that is horrible MPG for a stock truck.

mine beats his easily with lift and 35" tires and 100% city driving. and I'm a very aggressive driver. cat fell off and she has a SRL tune for motor mods

11.8 mpg seems to be my sweet spot lately for city driving. 17+ consistently when I do get some highway.

I don't drive it hard at all. Kinda grandpa it actually, someone told me it might be the biodiesel I'm running in it. So...guess I need to tune it

What blend of diesel/bio are you running in your truck? If you're running anything over B20 stop and change your fuel filters because Bio Diesel is one of the best solvents you ever want to see it will eat every rubber seal and break up all the crud in the fuel system sending it right from the fuel tank plugging up the filters. What's your boost pressure max out at when you get on the truck? When the cat plugged up on my truck I would only see 19-21 PSI of boost and that will absolutely kill your mileage because the truck can't breath.

Tylus, that was when my truck was absolutely bone stock right down to the bad EGR valve.

different animal for sure..

i used to get 13-15 city and 17-19 hwy.

bigger turbo, bigger injectors, bigger exhaust and lack of EGR system now has me seeing 20 mixed. i am running a KEM tune, it is very clean and frugal on fuel when you keep the skinny one in check.
