out here in the oil field my company puts us in 32-35' trailers, we use a F-350 with a V10 to lug these from Norman Ok all the way in Kansas and by Colorado, and down to Texas and all over Oklahoma. Not once has our trucks been out with Motor issues. Gunny Deal puts on about 100k a year on his trucks doing this and he loves the V10.

quite a bit of crap in this thread about the 5.4 3v. I've had 2 of them and wouldn't hesitate to buy another one tomorrow. Just like my 6.0, it gets a bad rap by people who have no idea what they're talking about. Just repeating drivel they read online without true experience.
The 5.4 3v is an extremely reliable motor. They regularly go 200,000+ miles without issues. A few of the early 3v motors in the F-150 had issues. It was due to lack of maintenance and using bad oil filters without a anti-drainback valve. Some get slightly noisy, but they're still 100% reliable.
As for the 5R100 Torqueshift...again alot of crap. A 5 speed monster. It's arguably the best transmission Ford has ever put out. The new 6 speed is giving her some competition though. The 5R100 is rated for 400 RWHP and 800 RWTQ. We all know how Ford loves to over-build stuff. Plenty of guys running hot-rod 6.0's and 6.4's on all stock 5R100's all day long with no issues. Plus Tow/Haul mode kicks ***. It's not the same as the O/D Off that many are used to with older 4 speeds.
I would happily grab a 5.4 3v F-250 for the right price if you wanted it for doing work. Kinda heavy for a daily driver. Sounds like that truck wasn't priced right. A F-150 with the 5.4 3v is a great combo as well. I loved my 2006. Miss it actually...but it also had that supercharger. So was a bit more powerful.
glad you found a good truck for you. I love the OBS trucks. They're just too damn old nowadays and the associated issues drive me crazy fixing 1 thing after another.
