2004 6.0 won't stay running
A co-worker of mine has a 2004 6.0L that will not stay running. When it does start, it gets to normal temperature, than dies. It has the EGR delete mod done to it. It is not throwing any codes at this time. When you restart it, it dies after a short time of idling. Any thoughts as this is their primary truck they use to haul and care for six horses.

Check your ICP sensor connection for oil contamination as well as the oil pressure reading from the sensor because if it's below 550psi the truck won't start or run. Also as mentioned check the FICM voltage, battery voltage, and alternator voltage output. When was the last time you changed the oil, oil filter, fuel filters, and what oil are you running in the truck.

I checked the ICP sensor no sign of oil contamination. FICM and alternator will get checked on thursday. My oil and motorcraft filter were last changed 3000 miles ago fuel filters are at 8000 miles. I check the secondary fuel filter for oil contamination none was present and fuel delivery to the bowl was good. The truck has no issues starting and will drive with a light load less than 20 mph as the load increases power decreases and then dies. There is also a slight amount of white smoke with no noticeable coolant loss. I was driving to work Monday at 60 mph when there was a sudden loss of power and the truck died. The truck would start and run for approx 10 seconds before dying again.

White smoke sounds like head gaskets but the starting and dying part has me a little confused. It sounds like a fuel delivery problem but it could also be that the HPOP is on it's last legs or toast.
What does the white smoke smell like?
Injectors could be toast.
What were you getting for boost before it died.
glc, if there was water in the fuel it would be evident when he checked the lower fuel bowl and it would still run.

I still think the HPOP is going. Or the injectors are shot. So you ever run diesel Klean or anything along those lines? If those are the original injectors I would say there is a high possibilty are smoked. Being an 04 it could also be the studs. There are so many things it could be but sounds like injectors or HPOP. I had an injector go out on my 7.3 at 150k and it smoked like crazy. The smell of raw diesel was overwhelming. If that HPOP isnt pushing enough pressure to the injectors that is what could be causeing the truck to die, maybe or maybe not? I would start by testing fuel pressure and eliminate the HPOP. From there I would have the injectors buzz tested, that will tell you if you have a bad 1 or maybe even more.
