may be selling my 08' F 150 FX4 and going with an E350 Cargo Van, just retired and plan on surf fishing with my new spare time.....any opinions on the reliability of the V 10 engine and is it worth upgrading the transmission to a 5 speed overdrive, will I save on gas on the highway as I travel from Philly to the NJ shore ?
thanks

actually yes, gonna have it converted to 4 wheel drive by Quigley Co. and can keep the surf rods up underneath the roof all the time instead of ON the cap of my 08' F 150.....I plan on some kind of cot for the interior to sleep overnight during the Fall striper "run". Just me and my GSDog, should be tons of room back there.

The v10 is a beast. IMO, if you can afford to do the 4wd conversion, gas mileage isn't going to be a big deal. Even at 10-12mpg you're getting better than a lot of van camper conversions and motor homes. Enjoy your retirement and leave some fish for the rest of us who are getting close to retirement..lol

Can you not get an E350 with 4wd already? But sounds good if it'll suite your needs and give you the room you need!

I do a lot of surf fishing and for sure would take a V10 over a PSD out on the sand. This was the first year I took my Detroit powered K5 out and the weight of that diesel wanted to sink the front end even down at 14 PSI, and strokers weigh even more than my lil 6.2L.
Usually always see the strugglers on the sand are either not low enough air pressure, or a heavy *** diesel.
