actually

lets take a poll...how many believe this guy is getting 24 MPG?? whats that? no one? Go over to Ford-diesel.com and start claiming 24MPG and all 10,000+ members will Laugh...no way in hell....

I've met the problem with the internet, some clown that starts talking out of his rear without having any facts.....Cummins is alive and well and if you know anything about diesels you would know that the cummins is a proven well designed I6 motor which gets the best mileage...Dodge trucks is another matter, but as far as the motor the cummins is hard to beat....

So, what's the problem...

Besides the fact that diesels are smokey, smelly, rattley, clattering blunderbusses that require two batteries, warmup time for the glowplugs, are expensive to repair and work on, I mean, come on, I just LOVE 'em.

OK, they have more torque and the fuel is marginally cheaper, but...

From my experience, everyone that i know with a diesel does not get good mileage either...maybe too much pride admitting that after spending that extra 4500...

Swofford,
Come on
here's part of an artical about the new G2
they go to say that the current 7.3 get's 18.4 mpg
which is about what most of the people I know get
"The 6.0L will be able to accelerate from 0-60mph in 9.7 seconds compared to the 7.3L's 12.5 second
time. The big news is the saving the 6.0L engine will have on fleet operators. The 6.0L will achieve
19.0 miles per gallon while the 7.3L current gets only 18.4. At a steady 70mph, the 6.0L can muster
19.0 miles per gallon, up from the 7.3L's 18.4. That equates into big yearly fuel savings for fleet owners.
The 6.0L engine will also emit fewer toxic emissions as well."
and If the cummins is that bad of a diesel
how come most of the diesel pusher motor homes have them ?
I know someone with a 28,000 motor home plus all the stuff in it
and they tow a full size truck and the cummins does a fine job
If you can pat yourself on the back
you can pull your head out of your @$$

Thumbs up

I owned a F150 Screw with the 5.4 and heavy duty towing package and averaged 14 to 16 mpg non towing and 10 to 11 mpg towing a 7200lb travel trailer. With my 250SD Power stroke I now get 17 to 19 mpg non towing and 12 to 13 mpg towing the same travel trailer. I plan on owning this truck long enough for it to pay back the power stroke option

First off I never claimed my rig was stock. Read the list of mods. I gained 4 mpg after adding all the mods to the truck. Everyone else I know up here that has the psd with the hypertech 2 I currently know averaged 3 ,pg increase add the banks exhaust you get a bit more. As for pulling my head out of my *** MANX? Its cold in WA and Id rather look at the inside of my *** then the people I share the world with.

Happy Holidays in Cumins fantasy land.

I dont care if you have a rocket ship attached to your back bumper, you dont get 24MPG.....I have been a member of ford-diesel since June of 1999 and I cant remember one person claiming the mileage you are getting, stock or not stock.....Pure Diesel BS....
