I traded my 97 F250 4x4 CC with a 7.5/auto/4.10ls for a 2000 F250 4x4CC with the V10/auto/3.73ls with 11,000 miles on it. The truck seems to pull a little better than the old one once it is up and moving. The gas mileage is a whole lot better. According to the neat little indicator on the headliner it is averaging between 13.5 and 14.2 mpg combined city/hwy with hwy speeds running about 70-75. My main question is at about 2500 rpm it sounds like it is making some sort of valve train click. Also, it has a vibration at about 67 mph that goes away when the load is taken off the engine. The same vibration also seems to occur when sitting in drive with my foot on the brake. Any ideas on what the dealer should be looking for when I take it in?

I honestly haven't got a clue
but I would like to welcome you to the board!!!
Something you can check out would be the diesel board. They actually do have a few V10 people over there that may be able to help. Check out the gasser sections though!!! www.ford-diesel.com

thanks for the input. I feel better going to the service manager and having some retort if he gives me the usual "it's normal".
Overall though, I am very pleased with the new drivetrain. I was a dyed in the wool 460 man having owed 6 of them since 1978 and running up as much as 322,000 miles on a 92 model with no mechanical problems. I was afraid I wouldn't like the V10 but I'm sold.

pemayeux, I must say I was glad to read your comments. I am planning on buying a V10 SD real soon but to be totally happy I want the same truck with a 460. If they offered the 460 I would be driving one already. I was still going to do the deal but sort of begrudgingly. If you are sold on the V10 with your considerable 460 experience, then I have less worries. Glad you are pleased with your V10, hope I will be too (I am planning on the same drivetrain you have).
