2002 F250 Questions
Hey:
I just bought an 02 F250 4*4 CC Powerstroke. A couple of questions.
Should I leave the hubs in auto or manual? Does it make a difference? Which one gives better MPGs?
I also read on here somewhere that it is possible to disable the stupid seatbelt chime. Anyone have a link to that?
Thanks a million
Steve

Leave your hubs in Auto. manual lovks them into 4 wheel drive. As for the seat belt chime you cant disarm it but you can make it stop by simply pressing the seatbelt release button when you put it in drive and it wont ding while your driving with out it engaged.

It's pretty simple, and takes about 3 or 4 minutes to do. It's a sequence of ignition on, lights on, then off, seat belts on and off a number of times, and so on... and it can be reversed by performing the same sequence over again.
Having said that, I'm not sure I'm doing you any favour by pointing it out. Wearing the seat belts is a lot better idea than disabling the chime...
I been a passenger in a couple of roll-overs in my time, including one that involved sheering through a hydro pole, all without a scratch. Others in the vehicle who were not belted in did not do so well. I try to visit one of them every year at the graveyard.
Needless to say, I wear mine pretty faithfully now, and insist on my passengers belting up too. The last thing I want in an accident is one of my passengers using me as a richochet point on their way out the windshield.

The F-150's have a wire connector under the drivers seat that I just unplugged to stop the seat belt reminder. Many times when driving off-road I don't wear a seat belt so I can lean out of the window to look for deer tracks or just spit some snuff. I'm only going about 5 mph on pretty flat ground in good ole Georgia red mud. The seat belt thing gets anoying. I always wear my belt when I get back on the road though.
While were on the subject though I actually don't think you have to wear a seatbelt in a truck in GA. It's something to do with the way they worded the law that trucks do not fall under it. That's no excuse for not wearing one though.

Hey:
I always wear my seatbelt when I am driving. It's stupid not to. I just wanted to know how to disable it because it drives me crazy when I am trying to back up to my trailer (and I am hopping in and out of the truck every couple of minutes, becauseI suck at backing onto the trailer). Between that ding and the backup warning radar thing, it's enough to drive somebody nuts.
Hopefully, I won't hit anything hard enought to need a seat belt
while backing up to a car trailer...
Thanks
